Abstract
Due to a copy-editing mistake by Oxford University Press, the originally published version of this manuscript contained the following errors:
The first author’s name, Lukas J. Musher was misspelled on the page headers.
In the following sentence, the word ‘caracterización’ was misspelled:
Este estudio muestra un impactante caso de un problema mayor para la biología comparada: la subestimación y caracterizatión errónea de la diversidad.
Throughout the paper, the acronym for the ‘Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel
University’ was erroneously given as ANSDU, instead of ANSP.
In the section ‘Analysis of Vocal Data’, the following sentence was incomplete:
This included recordings of 14 individuals from Pacific Ecuador and Peru for P. salvini, and 15 from Venezuela and Central America for P. a. albogriseus and P. a. ornatus (Appendix).
This sentence should have read instead:
This included recordings of 14 individuals from Pacific Ecuador and Peru for P. salvini, and 15 from Venezuela and Central America for P. a. albogriseus and P. a. ornatus (Appendix in Supplementary Material).
In the section ‘Geographic Distributions’, the text ‘(see kml file in Musher et al. 2022)’ in the following sentence was extraneous:
However, P. salvini spills over onto the eastern slope, possibly as a partial migrant
only, from central Peru north to northeast Ecuador and possibly southeast Colombia (see kml file in Musher et al. 2022).
In the section ‘Might P. salvini Be a Subspecies of P. polychopterus?’, ‘polychopterus’ was misspelled in the following sentence:
Similarly, P. polychpterus songs typically contain between 5 and 9 notes, compared with the 3-note phrase we identified for P. salvini.
In the section ‘Taxonomic Summary’, the following text contained an extraneous bracket:
Pachyramphus salvini Richmond 1899
(Ex. (Salvin 1895)
This should have been given as:
Pachyramphus salvini Richmond 1899
(Ex. Salvin 1895).
In the same section, the following sentence should have contained a reference to Figure 6, not Figure 7:
Song description: Quick and explosive tu-tu-dwit? typically
repeated 2–3 times in close succession (Figure 7).
In the same section, ‘Colombia’ was inadvertently omitted from Type locality: New Grenada, Bogotá.
The Funding Statement omitted mentioning ‘National Science Foundation’ in full and should have been given as follows:
Funding statement: Sequencing was funded by National Science Foundation grant
1146248. LJM was funded in part by National Science Foundation DEB-1855812 to
Jason D. Weckstein.
The Data availability section was incomplete and given as follows:
Data Availability: Analyses reported in this article can be reproduced using the data provided by Musher et al. (2022).
This should have been given as:
Data Availability: Analyses reported in this article can be reproduced using the data (including a kml file with all localities) provided by Musher et al. (2022).
These errors are only corrected in this correction notice to preserve the published version of record.
