Densification in heterogeneous powder mixtures by creep

Abstract
Successful preparation of functionally gradient materials by powder metallurgy requires usually the application of external pressure. Therefore the densification of two component mixtures under pressure needs to be understood. In this paper we study the densification of a two phase powder mixture with the two constituents deforming by power law creep. A theoretical framework is presented and various aspects of the model are discussed.
