New multicompartmental model of the left ventricle
01 Jan 1993
Abstract
A new compartmental model of the left ventricle and coronary circulation was developed to study local dynamics during regional myocardial ischemia. The LV is represented by five parallel compartments, each modeled as a varying elastance and pressure-dependent internal resistance. The coronary model contains five corresponding compartments, each of which includes seven segments representing the intramural arteries and veins, arterioles, capillaries and venules that supply this myocardial region. Coronary flow is controlled on the basis of computed values for compartmental myocardial oxygen consumption.
