Static and dynamic testing of model precast concrete shearwalls of large panel buildings

Abstract
This paper presents a methodology for designing, fabricating, and testing small-scale dynamic models of precast concrete shear walls such as those used in large panel precast concrete buildings. The design and construction is presented of a set of 3/32-scale models which satisfy dynamic similitude. Resonant vibration testing of three- and five-story precast concrete shear wall models on a small shaking table is described. Additional monotonic and cyclic tests performed on six five-story shear wall models under simulated earthquake loading are presented. The main parameters in these tests were the amount of steel in the vertical ties and cyclic versus monotonic loading.
