9.27 - Polymeric Imaging Agents
Polymer Science: A Comprehensive Reference, 10 Volume Set, pp 529-545
2012
Abstract
This work summarizes current and emerging technologies in polymeric contrast agents for bio- and medical imaging. Agents used in X-ray and computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging, radionucleotide imaging methods such as single-photon emission computed tomography and positron emission tomography, and finally optical imaging are reviewed. The role of these agents is expected to continue to increase with the emergence of targeted agents for diagnosis, nanoscale agents, and therapeutic agents capable of both diagnosis and treatment.
