Abstract
The global underrepresentation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is a concerning issue. According to the Global Gender Gap Report,¹ women comprise only 28.2% of the STEM workforce in 146 nations evaluated, compared to nearly 47.3% of non- STEM occupations. Despite a 1.58% increase in STEM female workers between 2015 and 2023, a troubling gender imbalance remains. In some countries of the Global South, women are more likely to graduate with STEM degrees than their male counterparts.
