Abstract
In December of 2012, the US government effectively lost what newspapers referred to as a “ten year battle” to extradite a Scottish systems analyst named Gary McKinnon so that he could face charges for committing, in the words of prosecution attorneys, “the biggest military computer hack of all time.”¹ McKinnon maintained that he hacked into NASA and US military computers in order to locate suppressed evidence of UFOs, a special interest of his.
