Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to radically change the day-to-day lives of people with disabilities around the world by removing barriers not just to inclusion, but to true integration. However, the systemic barriers to accessing AI tools, including Internet unavailability, economic cost, linguistic bias and training data inequalities could halt this progress. This entry explores these challenges, highlighting how AI improves accessibility via assistive technologies and discussing the ethical, legal and systemic challenges that must be addressed to ensure that AI's benefits reach all individuals. A balanced strategy integrating innovation with robust legal safeguards is essential for inclusion.
