Abstract

digital filters filter design finite impulse response filters image restoration infinite impulse response filters renography signal restoration
This chapter focuses on three different applications: One application is in the medical imaging area, namely, renography for assessing and detecting obstructions, compromised blood flow, or the function of one kidney relative to the other or to a normal organ. This application makes direct use of deconvolution using the Fast Fourier Transform operations. The second application was in filter design, an important part of electronic devices, e.g., radio, TV, and cellphones, where two major categories of filter designs, namely finite impulse response and infinite impulse response filters are introduced, and pointed to their differences and advantages. The third application is restoring a signal or an image, which has been degraded, using inverse and optimal filters. Filters are an important part of electronic devices, for example, radio, TV, and cell phones. Digital filters are implemented using algorithmic software to manipulate the signal in the frequency domain.
