CHARACTERIZATION OF THE SURFACE VIBRATIONAL PATTERNS OF ACOUSTICALLY RADIATING STRUCTURES USING THE ANGULAR SPECTRUM METHOD
Ultrasonics International 91: Conference Proceedings, pp 327-330
1991
Abstract
A technique for analyzing the surface velocity patterns of vibrating structures is presented. The technique is based on the angular spectrum model of acoustic propagation. An experimental system was built to determine the vibrational patterns of complex acoustic radiators. The results demonstrate the ability of the extended angular spectrum method to accurately resolve the surface features of complex vibrating structures. Although this paper is limited to the analysis of acoustic radiators operating in homogeneous media, the ultimate goal of the work is to determine the effects on transducer performance due to propagation through biological tissue.
