Book chapter
Child Protection
Forensic Mental Health Assessment
01 Jul 2014
Abstract
Chapter 18 discusses child protection, and particularly evaluations that are part of legal proceedings involving the protection of children from suspected abuse or neglect. The first case report is discussed in the context of assessing legally relevant behavior, and the principle illustrated by the second case report is the importance of being guided by honesty and striving for impartiality in FMHA. This may be accomplished in a variety of ways, usually through a discussion of the limitations of the forensic evaluator’s opinion and the factors that support it.
