Abstract

Adductor Core muscle injury Pubic bone Rectus abdominis Sports hernia
This chapter is an introduction to the core. Defined as the entire body from the chest to mid-thigh, it can be generally broken up into four broad categories: the hip joints, the skeletal muscles, the spine, and everything else. Understanding the anatomy is the key to understanding common causes of lower abdominal and groin pain. This chapter provides a discussion of core muscle anatomy, diagnosis, and treatment of core muscle injuries and a preview of the chapters to follow.
