Book chapter
Criminal Responsibility
Forensic Mental Health Assessment
01 Jul 2014
Abstract
Chapter 4 considers criminal responsibility. The first case report addresses the principle of being familiar with the legal, ethical, scientific, and practice literature pertaining to the legal question being assessed. An updated teaching point describes sources of particularly relevant information from the literature. The second principle to be addressed is that of attributing information to sources. Finally, the principle of declining a referral for FMHA when impartiality is unlikely is the focus of the final case report in this chapter. Maintaining impartiality is important in all cases, but it can be particularly difficult in high-visibility evaluations.
