Discrimination, Denial, and Deportation: Human Rights Abuses Affecting Migrants Living with HIV
18 Jun 2009
Abstract
This report describes how discrimination and human rights abuses faced by migrant populations result in increased vulnerability to HIV infection and barriers to care and treatment. The International Organization for Migration has estimated that 192 million people globally, or 3% of the world's population, live outside of their country of birth; and migration can often have serious health consequences with care limited by language and cultural barriers, discrimination, and legal status.
