Distal Protection for Carotid Artery Stenting: Where Is the Evidence?
Controversies in Vascular Neurosurgery, pp 139-145
01 Jul 2016
Abstract
Embolic protection devices are routinely used during carotid artery stenting procedures to theoretically reduce the risk of distal embolization. Although this is a standard procedural recommendation, no large randomized studies have shown superiority of these devices over unprotected stenting procedures.
