Abstract
This chapter focuses on doctoral training in forensic psychology. After a brief discussion of doctoral training in psychology more generally, we focus on forensic-specific doctoral training, with a detailed discussion of the educational and training opportunities that are available at both the undergraduate level and graduate level. The chapter then takes an in-depth look at basic competencies and essential components of doctoral-level training in forensic psychology. As part of that discussion, we focus on American Psychological Association requirements for doctoral programs, and the core competencies and skills that have been identified as comprising an ideal forensic training model. The chapter concludes with some thoughts about the future of doctoral training in forensic psychology.
