Abstract

Control sequences Distribution automation Net injection and load capability Power distribution Time-series analysis
Electric power distribution systems are undergoing significant consumer-driven changes including the installation of distributed solar-photovoltaic resources, energy storage resources, and the adoption of electric vehicles. These changes fundamentally alter locational electricity demand and voltage within the distribution system. Yet, an implicit goal is that the reliability of electrical service and quality of the delivered power, to all, is preserved or improved with the inclusion of new technologies. As power engineers, our engineering analysis and control tools for distribution automation via distribution energy management systems (DERMS) must be adapted to better capture emerging grid conditions.
