FRAMING TECHNOLOGICAL INFLUENCE THROUGH C-SPAN

Abstract
In this chapter we present an analysis of The Communicators, a weekly C-SPAN program in which government, policy, and industry experts discuss the future of technology.¹ This is the first project to explore how these focused, televised interviews frame technological potential and impact. The results of this project hold implications for media studies, sociology of invention research, and political communication. Through knowing how issues are framed over long periods of time, researchers can gain an understanding of how leaders view the future of technology and its impact on society as well as insight into policy change and public reaction to
