Gender-dependent effects of prenatal cocaine exposure
Gender differences in prenatal substance exposure, pp 11-29
2012
Abstract
Gender plays an important role in understanding the effects of prenatal cocaine exposure. It has been shown that males exposed to cocaine are more adversely affected than females in many developmental domains. Although much has been written about the effects of prenatal cocaine exposure, in this chapter we review what we know regarding the gender-dependent effects. We also speculate on potential neural mechanisms responsible for these gender differences. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
