Book chapter
Guardianship
Forensic Mental Health Assessment
01 Jul 2014
Abstract
The case report in this chapter is about the competence of adults to manage their own affairs. Evaluations of this type help courts decide whether a guardian should be appointed to handle the day-to-day affairs of the individual deemed incompetent to do so. Unlike previous chapters, this case report will be described in the context of two principles: awareness of the important differences between clinical and forensic domains; and awareness of the relevant legal, ethical, scientific, and practice literatures pertaining to FMHA.
