Health Promotion at Work
Robust Unionism, p38

Abstract
America’s labor movement has a vested interest in workplace health issues. While most workers get health-care coverage through their employers, far too many are also exposed to major health risks at their place of work. We are aware of some of these risks, such as flaking asbestos or sealed “indoor pollution,“ but are far less aware of others, such as toxic chemicals that have twenty-year latency periods before causing cancer. Moreover, far too few workers enjoy such healthenhancing options at work as a wellness program, a smoke ender’s program, an athletic center, or exercise paths or receive bonuses for good
