Hearing loss is extremely common, effecting more than 40 million Americans and similar percentages of populations in many other countries. It can be congenital or acquired and can present at any age. Hearing loss can have substantial negative impact on quality of life. Comprehensive evaluation to determine etiology and optimize treatment is essential.
