Abstract
E-mail enhances a movement that already has a sound plan of action in an
organization that shares at least a fundamental sense of solidarity. It will
never replace an inspiring speech by a charismatic union official or the faceto-face contact that is needed to convince fellow union members of the importance in walking a picket line.
