Abstract
The psychological records of the Nuremberg group attracted a great deal of
attention during the first several years after the Nuremberg trials. Particularly for
Gilbert and Kelley-vvho had the records in their possession and argued over the
ovvnership of them-they vvere not only the key to understanding the personalities
of leading Nazis, but also a sure route to fame and respect in the academic
community. Thus, vvhen Kelley’s tour of duty at the Nuremberg jail expired, he
retumed to the United States to immediately begin vvorking on the Nazi material
he had gathered.
