Introduction
The Path Forward: Psychological Services in the Community with Justice-Involved Individuals and to Forensic Systems, pp 1-12
06 Feb 2026
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the approach taken to describing exceptional community-based projects in forensic psychology, correctional psychology, and police psychology. It describes the parameters of these three specializations and how they overlap, and notes as well the increasing trend toward rehabilitatively-oriented community-based services. It describes the domains—assessment, intervention, consultation, and education—within which exceptional projects were identified and descriptive chapters contributed. Each contributed chapter provides information about the project or service. This includes the nature of the project; its beginnings and development; its generalizability; the considerations of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness; and advice to those who would like to provide comparable services
