Matters of Human Debate: Using the Internet for Union Democracy • Matt Noyes
The Cyberunion Handbook: Transforming Labor Through Computer Technology, pp 246-265
2001
Abstract
This union-sponsored forum, which openly encourages freedom of association and freedom of speech among all its members and officers (both
supporters and detractors alike), has evolved somewhat into a cybersystem
of checks and balances, making officers more accountable and members more
responsible for the direction of the union. Cyberdemocracy is alive and well
within the BMWE, and we are undoubtedly a more effective, responsive,
and inclusive union because of it.
