Medical Family Therapy, pp 219-240
27 Feb 2014
Abstract
The future of Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) rests with those who recognize the importance of research development, clinical competency, and the value of holding the skills of both researcher and clinician. This chapter will focus on a rich description of MedFT scientist-practitioner models by offering the experiences of MedFTs who have integrated clinical research into their work across academic, medical, and behavioral health settings. Outcomes from a series of research projects will be provided along with ways to construct a scientist-practitioner model of care. Strengths, barriers, and steps for overcoming them will be discussed.
