Abstract
Courageous leaders take charge in difficult circumstances, they communicate effectively, inspire others, and instill confidence. There are truly inspiring leaders in the nursing profession. However, during the global pandemic, the public may not have been aware of nursing leadership because of their decreased visibility in a public forum. Nursing is facing numerous challenges. Our leaders need to be expert communicators, authentic, confident, inspiring, compassionate, visible, and provide trauma-informed people-centered leadership. Mentoring is essential to the development of great leaders. The mentor guides the mentee by helping them to gain knowledge, skills, and clearer perspectives in their professional performance. Through effective mentorship, leaders emerge who are ready to address professional challenges and serve as role models. We present the experiences of two nurses, one in the United States and the other in the United Kingdom, who serve as mentor and mentee in Sigma’s Global Leadership Mentoring Community and how their collaboration empowered both of them to motivate each other, advocate for their profession, and support their colleagues.
