Abstract

bone microenvironment in promoting arrest of circulating cancer cells at skeleton bone microenvironment, as target for cancer cell dissemination cancer metastasizing, most commonly to bone, liver and brain chemokines, family of chemotactic cytokines ‐ in trafficking of leukocytes to sites of inflammation cortex or compact bone, sustaining weight of body ‐ enclosing cancellous bone malignant cells, generated by causal genetic insults ‐ behaving differently depending on specific microenvironment microenvironment factors ‐ influencing skeletal metastases molecular mediators and mechanisms ‐ homing and progression of cancer cells in skeleton, being identified occurrence of metastases ‐ most feared complication of solid neoplasia skeletal metastases ‐ posing problems for cancer patients' prognosis and therapy
