Neuroanatomic Maturation and Aggression during Adolescence
The Origins of Antisocial Behavior
25 Oct 2012
Abstract
This chapter discusses adolescent changes in brain anatomy, as assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI combines a powerful magnet, radio waves, and sophisticated computer software to produce exquisitely accurate pictures of brain anatomy and physiology without the use of ionizing radiation. The safety of MRI allows not only the scanning of healthy children and adolescents but also repeated scanning throughout the course of development.
