Policy Development for Coached Masters Sport: Possibilities and Problematization
Coaching Masters Athletes, pp 165-178
2021
Abstract
Masters Sport is a complex system in which a "one-size-fits-all" policy is not appropriate. This chapter builds a case for the importance of developing policy from an historical perspective for older adult populations. This chapter critiques the lack of policy for this sport cohort, then explores several ways in which policy may be developed to better support coaches of Masters athletes (MAs). A coaching case study is presented to highlight some key themes relating to what is currently happening in the world of adult sport today. This chapter concludes with some recommendations and useful queries relating to policy in Masters Sport.
