Abstract
This book is a labor of love by the three of us, a love of the subject of coherent states and its applications in many areas of physics for nearly four decades. It is also unusual that the three of us belong to three intellectual generations!
The genesis of this book’s idea came about when Wei-Min Zhang (WMZ) began his physics graduate studies with Da Hsuan Feng (DHF) at Drexel University in the mid-1980s. It was at a time when the research interests of DHF were in two major directions: the interacting Boson model (IBM) in nuclear structure physics and quantum optics.
