Publishing: A key component of behavioral intervention research

Abstract
Publishing findings from intervention research is a fundamental and critical component of the scientific process. It is also an obligation of investigators and an expectation within the academic and funding arenas. However, publishing is demanding and presents challenges in terms of what to publish, where to publish, and when. In this chapter, we present guidance on these issues, describe key elements of outcomes papers, and offer suggestions for the writing process. We also provide guidance on selecting a target journal and responding to review comments. Our goal is to facilitate communication about and the dissemination of findings from behavioral intervention research.
