Abstract
This chapter explores the role of technology in behavioral intervention research with regard to intervention delivery, data collection, and data analyses. Throughout, we provide examples of technology applications within each of these areas and also explore how new developments in artificial intelligence (AI) are leading to novel treatment approaches. Overall, the intersection of technology developments and behavioral intervention research is exciting and holds great potential to catapult the field forward with greater precision in intervention delivery and measurement as well as enable greater reach to different populations. There are important advantages but also challenges associated with technology-based approaches which this chapter highlights as well as issues that warrant further investigation.
