STEPS ALONG THE WAY: A PERSONAL RETROSPECTIVE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE US ECFMG ACCULTURATION PROGRAM
Innovation and Leadership in English Language Teaching
01 Jan 2011
Abstract
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (R) (ECFMG (R)) Acculturation Program arose out of a recognition that doctors arriving from other countries to train in the United States wanted and needed assistance in many areas both professional and personal. Direct contact with examinees in a pilot project followed by focus groups with IMGs and training program staff guided the evolution of a now comprehensive array of resources and services.
