Text Mining with Unstructured Text
Representing Scientific Knowledge
28 Nov 2017
Abstract
This chapter introduces computational techniques that enable us to extract concepts, relations, and other patterns from text documents, and from scientific publications in particular. After targets of interest have been extracted and annotated, text mining techniques can be applied to identify higher-order patterns and trends that may not be obvious from individual documents. The basic concepts and the general procedure for applying these tools to the study of scientific publications are explained with illustrative applications.
