Abstract
Global competition and transformational scientific and technological advances dominate the twenty‐first‐century competitive landscape, particularly in the life sciences.
Academic entrepreneurship—a university culture that supports the transfer of knowledge to industry and society and encourages faculty innovation—is becoming critical to the role that universities play in drug discovery. The relationships between universities and companies in global life sciences will continue to evolve to more collaborative, long‐term, and flexible types of arrangements in the twenty‐first‐century global economy.
