Abstract
In this paper a formula is developed for computing the density variations in a three-dimensional object from a single scattering measurement. The object is insonified with a plane wave whose time dependence is δ function, and far field scattered wave responses are measured for all angles. The inversion formula is very simple. The problem is solved for a lossless medium with constant compressibility and for small variations in density (Born approximation).
