Abstract
Pediatric optometrists, pediatric occupational therapists, and school-based occupational therapists all spend a considerable amount of their professional time testing and treating children with learning disorders. Public Law (PL) 94-142 was passed in 1975 and has made available a free, appropriate public education that emphasizes special education and related services to children with a wide range of handicapping conditions. Because occupational therapy is included as one of the related services, the profession has become deeply involved in the care of learning disabled children. In fact, school systems are listed as the second most common work setting for occupational therapists.
