"We Were the Curriculum": Embedded Assessment in an International Coach Developer Programme

Abstract
From 2014 to 2020, the Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU), in conjunction with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), offered six cohorts of a blended learning programme for coach developers from around the globe entitled the NSSU Coach Developer Academy (NCDA). The seventh and final cohort focused on systems development in coach education. Given the programme was revised and adapted in each of its seven years of operation, this chapter will focus on the curriculum and experiences of the sixth cohort, the cohort for which we were trainers. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of how embedded assessment was used in this iteration of the programme, by weaving together a description of the conditions we believe are required for its successful implementation. This is achieved through foregrounding the experiences of the participants themselves, as told in their words.
