Writing up and publishing results

Abstract

Academic Writing Experimentation Human Psychology: Professional & Research Scientific Communication
Writing up and publishing results brings closure to the research cycle through dissemination of the results to a wider audience, whether it's a professor, a committee, a funder, a partner organization, or the academic community. This chapter offers tips and strategies for writing up the research. It discusses steps to produce clear results and discussion sections of a published research report, such as a journal article. The chapter also details the strategies for converting a thesis, dissertation, or large grant project into six possible types of publications. Writing a chapter for books and handbooks typically involves summarizing part of a research project or synthesizing information across several research projects, then relating that material to the overall book topic. When writing up the results and considering the various formats for publishing the work, imagining how readers will engage with the data is helpful.
