Promoting Mentoring and Advising in EdD Programs Through the Use of Protocols

Abstract
This conceptual and exploratory paper has several aims: 1) To describe the elements of the CPED Design Concept of Mentoring and Advising, 2) To consider how a group mentoring and advising model might be implemented with EdD candidates at various stages in the program, 3) To apply a “Critical Friends Group” protocol to facilitate group dialogue, and 4) To explore how model can be adapted to enhance faculty professional development as effective EdD advisors.
