Sampling and measuring for NO and NO2 in combustion systems
14th Aerospace Sciences Meeting
1976
Abstract
Accurate determination of NO and NO2 concentrations in gas turbine combustors and other combustion systems is important to the understanding of the combustion and pollutant formation processes. Measurements of NO and NO2 in combustion systems are reviewed and additional experimental data for a turbulent diffusion flame are presented. Sampling and analytical procedures for measuring NO and NO2 are also reviewed and difficulties in obtaining quantitative results arc discussed (eg. probe effects, sample modification, etc.). Calculations demonstrating significant homogenous and heterogeneous probe effects when sampling from a high temperature combustion zone are presented and discussed.
