Abstract
Introduction
Kratom, derived from Mitragyna speciosa, is growing in use in the U.S. but remains poorly understood. 12,17 Acting on opioid receptors, it causes stimulation, sedation, dependence, and withdrawal. 3 Its opioid-like effects are often missed on toxicology screens, contributing to under-diagnosis despite thousands of associated deaths in recent years. 7 Buprenorphine shows promise but remains under used and understudied for Kratom withdrawal. This review examines buprenorphine dosing literature to guide treatment of Kratom Use Disorder (KUD).
