Abstract
The authors are developing a two-course sequence in advanced materials processing which is aimed at undergraduate students in Chemical, Materials and Electrical Engineering. As the base for each source, results of research work on processing performed over the past five years are used. Emphasis is placed on engineering science, design, operation and optimization, with about 15% of each course taught by industrial practitioners. In the first course, major topics are clean melt technology, melt atomization, and spray forming. Topics in the second course are gas injection processes, and powder processing. Course material will be compiled and published in the form of self-contained teaching modules to facilitate export to other institutions and to industry.
