Application of the method of steepest descent optimization to the design of shaped beam antennas
1982 Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, v 20, pp 600-603
1982
Abstract
A technique is presented which utilizes a computer implementation of the classical method of steepest descent to derive complex feed network weights. An initial vector of weights is optimized in an iterative fashion to provide a desired shaped beam antenna illumination over a main beam area while simultaneously providing a specified main/sidelobe region isolation.
