Abstract
Health-monitoring is a concept which offers great promise for improving the maintenance management process for civil infrastructure systems, by providing managers objective data for decisions. Information and engineering tools and methods represent the most critical issues related to meaningful and beneficial implementations of bridge health-monitoring for infrastructure maintenance and operations management. The writers are currently examining these issues in the context of their research on a long-span bridge.
