Common and variable characteristics in spatially recorded seismic ground motions
Probabilistic Mechanics & Structural Reliability: Proceedings of the Seventh Specialty Conference, pp.628-631
01 Jan 1996
Abstract
A methodology for the investigation of spatially variable seismic ground motions recorded at dense instrument arrays is described. The approach recognizes a common, coherent component in recorded data over extended areas, identifies spatial variability causes in both the amplitudes and phases of the sinusoidal components of the motions at each recording station around the common component, and correlates them with site characteristics. Results of SMART-1 data analyses are presented.
