Abstract

Although isolated facts and rules are known regarding macronutrient behavior, bioassay-experiments using living subjects-is still a mainstay of nutritional research and instruction. A comprehensive computer model of macronutrient physiology will diminish the need for invasive human and non-human animal experiments; and, at the same time, reduce cost and tedium. The authors' goal is to provide such a model which will realistically and robustly portray the behavior of macronutrients in humans and non-human animals and serve as a tool in clinical, industrial, regulatory and academic nutrition.
