Experimental studies of a phase identification system for distribution systems
IEEE PES T&D 2010, pp 1-4
Apr 2010
Abstract
This paper presents the design and development of experimental set-ups for the purpose of testing phase identification systems for power distribution networks. A series of hardware experiments and procedures were created within a laboratory environment at Drexel University to represent actual, distribution components and multiple operating conditions. These tests included multiple transformer connection types including Wye, Delta and Scott-T, distribution lines with high R/X ratios and loads of varying levels and power factor. Subsequently, studies were performed to validate the performance of an energized phase identification system based on synchrophasor technology.
